Pear Natural Diamonds

The pear, or teardrop, combines a rounded end with a single point. Like the oval and marquise it is an elongated brilliant, so it looks generous for its weight and is a popular choice for both rings and pendants.

Symmetry matters most: the two shoulders should match and the point should line up with the rounded end. The point is the stone's most delicate area and is best protected by a prong or V-tip setting.
